TAISAMASAMA

In Samoa, orators, most if not all, commence their speeches with a meaningful Samoan saying: "O pa’ia ‘o Samoa, e ‘amata mai ‘i le Taisamasama o le Tuimanu’a, se’i pa’ia Analega," which beautifully translates to "Samoa and all of it's glory begins from the yellow seas of the Tui Manu’a, until it touches Analega in Savai’i." They key-word here is “begins”.

Taisamasama holds a profound significance as a symbolic landmark representing beginnings in the Samoan culture. Whether because it stands as the first of the Samoan islands to witness each sunrise, or due to its association with Malietoa and the Tui Manu’a's very first ava ceremony. Regardless, it represents day one, the starting line, the prelude, the kick-start, the onset, the dawn.

Samoa has grown and evolved since then, and understanding its origins allows a true appreciation of our journey. As the movie Moana wisely puts it, "It’s knowing where you are, by knowing where you’ve been."

Now, we proudly introduce to you OUR Taisamasama; A dedication, once again, to embrace a fresh start for Niuhype. It symbolizes "niu" beginnings and the profound journey it brings.
